How We Calculate Your Chart

Accuracy in astrology begins with astronomy. Every chart on NatalCharts.net is built on the Swiss Ephemeris, a high precision planetary position library derived from NASA JPL data and maintained by Astrodienst in Zurich. It is the same engine trusted by professional astrology software worldwide, accurate to a fraction of an arcsecond across thousands of years.

When you enter your birth date, exact time, and place, we convert your local time to Universal Time, resolve the geographic coordinates of your birthplace, and compute the true positions of the Sun, Moon, planets, and chart angles for that precise moment. House cusps use the Placidus system by default, the ascendant and midheaven are calculated from your local horizon, and aspects are measured with standard orbs. Nothing is rounded off or approximated for convenience. This is why your birth time matters so much: the ascendant shifts roughly one degree every four minutes, so even a small error can move your rising sign.

Our Vedic charts apply the Lahiri ayanamsa to convert tropical positions into the sidereal zodiac, and our progressions, solar returns, and transits all draw from the same core engine. One accurate calculation feeds every tool on the site.
